After a morning's panic 'revision', I went into college for the usual pre-term meeting with the tutors. This happy affair proceeded as usual with the handing out of lecture lists and the arranging of tutorials and classes for the next few weeks. We did notice, however, that Dr. Brouard had failed to give us any work for the week ahead. Something, somewhere is fundamentally wrong. Tutors don't give weeks off. We'll just get relaxed and then he'll spring something on us, I'm sure.

The Collection was a marvel of its form. Dr. Greene seems loath to give his students any choice as to which questions to answer, so we had to do all five in three hours. Thankfully, at Mark's suggestion, I had revised (at the last minute) my 'Chromium, Molybdenum and Tungsten' essay. First question: 'Discuss the chemistry of chromium, molybdenum and tungsten'. This meant that I could actually score some marks, which was a boon. As for the rest, it was a case of picking random and half-remembered facts out of the recesses of my mind. I knew I could do the questions, I just couldn't remember how. Question 5(c) was of particular interest. Essentially it was 'Discuss the trends in the graph below', followed by half a page of blank space. Tricky.

Since tomorrow brings another Collection (Organic Chemistry this time), I spent a pleasant Friday night in my room revising. Chris, having actually had Collections this term (physicists seem to avoid them for some reason), managed to get his over and done with today. He headed barwards.
