To finish the week off properly, Mark, Dave and I decided to go to the ChemSoc Ball, a black tie affair at the Union building. ChemSoc have a tendency to talk up their events. In this case the 'Ball' was a 'Party in Black Tie with Food'. Despite this, it wasn't bad, and we had the opportunity to watch the first year chemists experience alcohol for the first time after Chemists' Dinner. They seemed to do well, although Chris Mellor seemed to be in the alcohol denial phase still.

The highlight of the evening was Rob France, a nice enough bloke from St. Johns, passionately kissing Antonia Black, a nice enough but over-drunk Oriel chemist. This came as some relief to the other blokes in the room as she seemed rather over-keen to make friends with some of them, and they were reluctant to assist her in this matter. All this caused some amusement amongst the other Orielites.
