After lectures, I returned to the lab to deal with some worryingly blue crystals. These should (and indeed were in places) bronze, since we had made a tungsten bronze. The blue was something that could probably be explained away. Probably.

We had a battery of tests to perform on the things, but first we had to extract some sample crystals to show the demonstrator from the general mass of fused crystals we had. This was done by randomly hitting the lump of crystals with a stick until it broke into bits, and then randomly hitting the bits until they yielded a couple of arguably cubic crystals. It was my job to test these for electrical conductivity. They seemed remarkably unwilling to actually allow me to get a constant reading. I blame the dubious multimeter I had to use. Or the blue coating.

Once I had finished, the other tests had been finished by Vicki, Sarah and Emma and we were free to go. Hurrah.

The tradition of going to the Radcliffe Arms for dinner on a Friday night was continued, as was my personal tradition of being morose down the bar. We all headed back to Flat 3 after the bar shut and watched 'Airplane', which made the evening rather more pleasant than it might have been.
