The angel on my shoulder persuaded me to look at the first part of the tutorial work today. All my life I have thought of science as being precise and, well, scientific. In this tutorial we work out the symmetries of electron orbitals, make educated guesses about their relative energies, mix them together and then make uneducated guesses about the resulting orbital energies. I applied to do chemistry because I wanted to make fireworks. Blunder.
