we've gotta get out of this place
A weekend in the country is really quite lovely. Sara and I spent it with my dad's uncle and his wife in Hampshire. The difference in air quality alone makes the trip worthwhile, although good food and good company are in evidence as well.
We went into Petworth Park, which is one of Capability Brown's creations, with the usual man-made hills and lakes. Real landscape gardening.
I also had my first Nepalese meal, at the Gurkha Chautari in Liphook and it was very nice indeed. Subtler than Indian food. It's run by ex-Gurkha soldiers, so there was no question of not paying the bill.
All this, coupled with some unusually warm and sunny weather meant we were quite disheartened to return to London.
