so much for terror

There's been a suitcase on the street by my flat for the last week or two. It's battered, fixed with yellow and black tape.

In the current climate, when I first saw it I pondered reporting it to the police. I didn't, partly because I couldn't imagine terrorists letting off a suitcase bomb in Leyton and partly because I didn't want to cause a Fuss.

I think people have investigated it over the last few days - its zip has been partly open, and it's moved about a bit. But last night, I rounded the corner to find an old man, armed with a walking stick, stamping on it. He walked off when he saw me.

The case looks quite forlorn now. I think I saw a name tag on it this morning.
