on the buses

The buses are against me. Whichever direction I go in, there are loads that go in the opposite direction and none in the direction I want. This happens more often than is explicable by chance.

This afternoon we decided to wait for a bus. And we waited and waited and waited. There comes a point when you've waited so long that you're committed and can't risk walking on. We decided to risk walking on. The bus passed us a minute or so later.

one church

There are some churches near where I live which have signs on them, red ovals with white writing and the legend

One church, one Lord
JESUS CHRIST
Worship Him here

But when I first read it, I mis-interpreted it as something like

One church, one Lord
GOOD GRIEF
Worship Him here

and now every time I see one, I think of that. It's starting to get to me, actually.
