alabama
Tonight's video entertainment was Sweet Home Alabama. It was enjoyable enough, if a bit predictable.
I'm not the world's greatest critic.

chili's
Sara had a hankering for real American food, and so we decided to test the Chili's restaurant in Canary Wharf. It's a tex-mex place, and we were hoping that (unlike TGI Fridays) it might be an American restaurant with American food, rather than the sort of food that we English seem to imagine is American.
[Their neon sign was faulty, displaying "Chils Restaurant", which was appropriate because the air conditioning was a trifle enthusiastic.]
To my great disappointment, they didn't have mozzarella sticks. Mozzarella sticks are the single greatest culinary gift bestowed upon the world by America. Deep fried mozzarella, dipped in marinara sauce. And, for some reason, almost entirely unavailable in Britain. Alas.
We ate an Awesome Blossom to start (essentially onion rings, only involving a whole onion cut into strips parallel with its axis) which was good, but greasy. Sara then had a chicken fajita salad, which was good (I ate a chunk of it), and I had chicken fajitas with extra cheese, bacon and mushrooms. With hindsight, I realise that the cheese and bacon were certainly surplus to requirements. The mushrooms possibly too. It tasted very nice, but it was a struggle to finish. I sort of rolled out of the restaurant.
Sara's view was that yes, it was authentic American cuisine and so we were happy. And full. So very, very full.
