t3: rise of the sequels
Dinner at The Goose on Gloucester Green (a very average - nay, poor - selection of Indian nibbles) then on to the cinema with Ed and Mark.
We went for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. Like many of these big-budget, special effects films, it was probably best to see it on the big screen. You just can't pan-and-scan some of these films. (Here I wave dismissively at those of you with TVs big enough to sensibly support widescreen films.)
So, did I enjoy it? Yes, I did. Did I think it was fabulous? No, I didn't. Did I think it set itself up for "T4: Rise of the Humans"? Undoubtedly.
It self-parodied too much for my liking (although I don't think you could do a T3 without occasionally putting your tongue in your cheek). I was really aware that its plot could be written on the back of an envelope (but then that's true for most action movies, and they wouldn't work any other way). The special effects were very good. The chase sequence with the crane was very, very good. You could still believe without too much effort that Arnie could be an implacable killing machine.
So yes, an enjoyable experience. Not a film I'd watch twice unless it was on TV and I had nothing better to do, but time well spent.

three day weekend
Today's a day off. It was time for a long weekend, we thought, if only because I'm sick of work.
We're going up to Oxford. Sometime. Soon. Maybe.
