annoying passengers

My fellow train passengers annoyed me today. At first it was a woman and her young daughter who insisted on giggling inanely all the time, while the girl ran around and clambered over the seats. A bit of a giggle is fine, and some clambering may be overlooked, but after forty minutes or so it gets a bit wearing.

They left at Slough, but only to be replaced by a large party of eastern European people (I always think of them as gypsies, but I've no idea if that's actually correct; in fact I've no idea if they're even eastern European - they're the ones who walk down the length of Tube trains, clutching a child or sometimes and accordion, begging). They all talked at once, at the tops of their voices (to cover the sound of crying babies, it seemed) accompanied by an accordion. No, really.

It made me quite glad to reach Paddington.
